Saddle up the donkey puns because the pioneering multiplayer sci-fi game created by coding legend Dani Bunten is bidding to make an official return after nearly 30 years in the remake wilderness… assuming the financial cavalry comes to the rescue. Yes that’s right, it’s the M.U.L.E. Kickstarter bid.
Alpha Colony: Tribute to M.U.L.E. is the suitably reverent title and, as hinted at in our tirelessly-investigated report a few days ago, endorsement has been granted by the guardians of the Ozark Softscape legacy and the M.U.L.E. license; the Bunten family. In short, Alpha Colony is probably as close to being a bona fide sequel as it’s possible to hope for without insisting weekly developer meetings be conducted through a medium.
In addition to the fully-3D Alpha Colony planned for iPad and desktops, developers DreamQuest are helping to support the completion of a more faithful retro-themed update, called M.U.L.E. Returns, due for iOS and Android.
